Quick solutions to common questions about unified communication, privacy, and AI-powered features.
General
What is Phound?
Phound is a privacy-first communication hub that integrates calling, messaging, video meetings, and AI-powered features into one unified app. It's designed to replace the fragmented stack of tools most teams rely on today.
Is Phound available on mobile and desktop?
Yes — Phound is available on both iOS and Android, as well as Mac and Windows desktop. Download at phound.app.
Which countries is Phound available in?
Phound is available for sign-up in all countries where phone number verification is possible, or where Google or Apple login is supported.
Can I join a meeting without downloading the app?
Yes. Guests can join any Phound meeting via web browser using a shared meeting link — no download or account required.
Meetings & Messaging
What is a meeting on Phound?
A meeting on Phound is a video or audio call that automatically creates a dedicated chat for all attendees. Guests can join via a shared link without needing an account.
Can I record meetings?
Yes. Recordings are available in the meeting chat after the session ends and can be downloaded by the host.
Can I have a co-host in a meeting?
Yes. Assign a co-host from the Attendees panel by clicking the three-dot menu next to any participant's name and selecting "Make co-host."
How do I switch between devices during a meeting?
Open the Phound app on your other device and tap "Connect" to seamlessly hand off the call without dropping.
What are the limitations for non-Phound users in meetings?
Non-Phound users can join as guests via a meeting link but won't have access to the meeting chat after the session ends and cannot record meetings.
Phone Numbers & Calling
Can I send SMS without a Phound number?
To send SMS messages, you need a Phound number. This is a carrier requirement, not a Phound limitation. You can get a number on the Pro or Business plan.
Can I port my existing number into Phound?
Yes. You can port your existing phone number into Phound so your contacts can still reach you on the same number. See our porting guide for step-by-step instructions.
How do I get a vanity phone number?
After upgrading to Pro or Business, go to Profile → Numbers → Add New Number. You can filter by country and search for preferred patterns or sequences.
Privacy & Security
Is my phone number safe with Phound?
Absolutely. Your phone number is securely stored for authentication purposes only and is never shared or sold without your explicit consent.
How do I protect my number from spam?
Go to Profile → Personas → select a persona → Privacy and Visibility. You can control exactly who can see your number and reach you on each persona.
What if my phone is lost or stolen?
Contact Phound Support immediately at support@phound.app. We can temporarily disable authentication on your account and help you secure it while you sort out your device.
How does Phound's identity verification work?
Phound uses phone number verification and optional government-backed identity checks to authenticate users, ensuring every call and message originates from a trusted, verified source.
